They came from the past
To retrieve something stolen,
Something evil. . .
And only Jim Hawkins stands in
Their way.
Chris Heimerdinger, LDS master of high adventure, reunites the compelling characters from his best-selling novel, Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites, in an explosive saga that transports you from the familiar settings of Utah and the American West to unfamiliar settings of southern Mexico, and its deep shadowy jungles.
Jim Hawkins, still unable to remember his former adventures among the Nephites, is nevertheless haunted by fleeting images he can't seem to connect with any particular source. Vivid memories are returned to him bit by bit when strange and ancient visitors suddenly interrupt his quiet life - one desperate for his help; others desperate for revenge.
Be a part of the excitement as Jim Hawkins, and Garth Plimpton embark upon the most thrilling and hazardous quest of their lives: a quest that teaches them the true meaning of valiance in these latter days; a quest where every step of the way they are pursued by the darkest of villains . . . .
For over a decade, Chris Heimerdinger has brought adventure and fantasy to LDS readers. His first novel, Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites, published in 1989, continues to thrill readers young and old, and inspire a greater appreciation for the Book of Mormon.
The idea for Gadiantons and the Silver Sword was formulated shortly after the publication of Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites, though the concept did not become a reality until the summer of 1990 when Chris embarked on an epic drive with two Spanish-speaking companions from Salt Lake City to Santiago Tuxtla, Mexico, following the exact trail as his characters did in the story. Many incidents in the book were inspired by actual events and persons met during that journey, i.e. the incident with the police in Mexico City, the detour to Poza Rica, and the old Indian named Antonio.
Readers will also enjoy Chris' other books published in the Tennis Shoes Adventure Series, which include: Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites; The Feathered Serpent, Parts One and Two; The Sacred Quest (formerly Tennis Shoes and the Seven Churches); The Lost Scrolls; and The Golden Crown. His other books published by Covenant include Daniel and Nephi; Eddie Fantastic; and A Return to Christmas (currently published by Random House/Ballantine for a national readership).
Chris resides in Riverton, Utah, with his wife, Beth, and their three children, Steven Teancum, Christopher Ammon, and Alyssa Sariah. Check out Chris' web site and become a registered guest at www.cheimerdinger.com.
