Take five unmarried sisters and four single cousins, place them in a dangerous Book of Mormon setting at the time Jerusalem was about to be destroyed, and presto! You have a perfect formula for romance and an endless array of intriguing questions! The daughters of Ishmael tell their own story in a delightfully real and captivating youth novel, Romancing the Nephites.
How do you think these young women felt when their probable grooms, the sons of Lehi, suddenly disappeared? Did Ishmael's family know of the murder of Laban and the escape of their cousins back into the wilderness with the brass plates?
If you had been one of Ishmael's daughters, would you have willingly left everything to follow your cousins into the wilderness? What kind of girl would the Lord prepare to be the companion and helpmate for a future prophet like Nephi?
Becky Paget's wonderfully imaginative mind suggests answers to these questions and weaves a story that brings Book of Mormon characters to life in a vivid, entertaining, fun way. Enjoy the romance! Love the characters! Live the adventure!
As a young girl growing up in Pennsylvania, Becky had two loves--art and reading. But, as she entered Brigham Young University, the art department had the strongest attraction. She graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in drawing and painting. Still, her interest in literature has never diminished. Finally, with stories of her own to tell, she started writing. She says, "My attitude was that if Nephi could build a ship, then I could write a book. We were both dependent on the help of the Lord."
Becky has pursued an interest in teaching art. She taught children's classes at the Contemporary Arts Musuem in Houston, Texas, then developed a children's curriculum of "hands on" art history which she has taught in several locations. Becky currently works with the Laumier Sculpture Park in St. Louis.
Becky joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of fifteen. She has served in many callings, and is currently serving as Stake Primary President. She lives in Webster Groves, Missouri with her husband Jon and their four children.
