About the Author

Clair M. Poulson has spent most of his adult life patrolling the highways and enforcing the law in his native Duchesne County, in the state of Utah. After his retirement as Duchesne County Sherriff, Clair became a part-time judge for the justice court and finally had time to seriously pursue his life-long interest in writing. For many years he has kept a journal and has a wealth of recorded experiences to draw from. However, when he sat down to write, he decided that fiction would be more fun than autobiographical writing and would also be of more interest to the reading public.

Clair's interest in fiction actually found its beginning many years ago when he would tell bedtime stories to his small children. They would beg for just one more "make up story" before going to sleep. He wishes he had recorded those stories for his grandchildren!

His current schedule allows him to come home each day after spending a few hours handling the business of his justice court and work on his writing where he is limited only by his own imagination. He finds writing fiction to be as immensely satisfying as was creating bedtime fiction for his little ones.

The Church has always been an important part of Clair's life and he has served in many positions. He is currently serving as High Priest Group Leader. He and Ruth, his wife and sweetheart of nearly twenty-four years, are the parents of five children. Nothing is more important to him than his family, and even as the children loved his stories when they were little, he hopes to provide them uplifting entertainment and encouragment through his writing today.

The son of a librarian, Clair still reads from fifty to one hundred books a year--an interest his children share. His favorite book, and one from which he feasts daily, is the Book of Mormon--so it was natural that he would choose a Book of Mormon setting for his first novel.

Clair loves the out-of-doors. He still farms with his brother, as he has for many years, and raises a variety of livestock including cattle, sheep, and pigs. He spends many hours running on the back-roads and remote areas behind his rural home. When he is running he finds time to think, and many of his best ideas for writing come to him when he is alone with nature.
