Book of Mormon Adventures

Tales from the Book of Mormon

by Blaine & Brent Yorgason

The prophet Nephi wrote that he likened the scriptures to his people for their profit and learning. In Tales from the Book of Mormon, master storytellers Blaine and Brent Yorgason apply this principle by bringing to life, through fictionalized accounts of events and personalities, some key lessons from the Book of Mormon. Included are nine stories of Nephi, Alma, Moroni, and other men and women of the ancient American frontier who chose the lofty way of God over the way of the world.

The authors write, "Because w are by nature tellers of stories, we found that we better understood the concepts and doctrines taught in the scriptures when we made tales of them. We found ourselves reading between the lines, thinking of the people who took part in the events described, wondering about their emotions and activities and struggles, and subconciously forming these wonderments into tales. These were fictitious, for in them we placed our own thoughts, feelings, struggles and testimonies.

"Still, as we have read the Book of Mormon, studied, pondered, gained some understanding, and finally, written, we have felt a spirit of love for the ancient peoples of the Lord. We truly pray that those who read these stories may feel the same spirit and may understand a little more clearly the next time they read the scriptures themselves."
